The Milligan vocal ensembles will close the academic year with a program of contemporary music on themes of hope and light. The concert will open with the a cappella ensemble Heritage performing favorites from their repertoire of sacred pieces. Milligan’s Concert Choir will follow with several selections, culminating with the first extended work by the contemporary composer Elaine Hagenberg called “Illuminare.” According to the composer, this piece uses sacred Latin, Greek, and English texts to take listeners on a journey “through a season of beauty and goodness that has been disrupted by darkness and confusion. But as Light gradually returns, hope is restored, illuminating our future and guiding us in peace.”
