This unique event will bring together talented singers from local high schools along with the Milligan Concert Choir to perform “The Cry of Jeremiah” by Rosephanye Powell. With text from the Book of Jeremiah, this work traces the prophet’s words of lament, despair, and ultimately praise for God’s deliverance paired with music inspired by African, American, and European traditions. The concert will open with members of Milligan’s music faculty performing chamber works by Powell, Margaret Bonds, and Florence Price in celebration of Black History Month.
