Dear Milligan Community,
I am writing to update you on the current state of things on campus. There are a number of logistical issues, so I will be direct and brief. You can expect at least one broad update from me per day and other specific updates from cabinet members as needed.
- Boil Water Advisory: We have been notified by the City of Elizabethton that we are currently under a precautionary boil water advisory. Although no contaminants have been found in our water, we are following this advisory for the safety of our community. We will set up drinking water stations in the Sutton lobby. Please use these to refill water bottles for drinking water. Boiling water is unnecessary for washing clothes, bathing, or flushing toilets.
- Tuesday Classes Cancelled: To assess community needs and provide flexibility for students, faculty, and staff, we are cancelling classes tomorrow (October 1). We will make another announcement regarding the resumption of classes by tomorrow evening. Faculty and staff who are able should report to work as we seek to aid our community. As before, the safety of our community members is our highest priority, so please plan accordingly. We will be flexible to ensure your safety.
- Time of Prayer: The cabinet will be gathering in Seeger Chapel at 1:30 p.m. today to hold a time of prayer for the community. We invite everyone who is able to join us.
- Service and Supplies: Rhajon Smith and Lauren Gullett will be communicating shortly about opportunities for service and donations. They will provide the details of places to serve and items needed for donation. We will accept donations in the Little Hartland garage until noon on Wednesday. We will also add that information to our response website: https://www.milligan.edu/hurricane-helene-emergency-response/. Please remember that students, faculty, and staff can continue to fill out the forms located on that page to notify us of needs. We are reviewing those as they come in.
- WIFI: If you or your family members are in need of WIFI, our guest network is open and available in all campus buildings.
Thank you for continuing to partner with us as we seek to show the love of Jesus to our community and help those who are most in need.
Stephen
