SGA T-Shirt Design Contest

Milligan’s Student Government Association (SGA) is thrilled to present an exciting opportunity for all current students – the chance to design Milligan’s next T-shirt!

This is your moment to unleash your creativity, whether you’re inspired by the nostalgia of retro designs or have a completely innovative concept in mind.

We are now accepting Designs through March 8th! Simply email your completed design to sgapresident@milligan.edu

Need some inspiration? Check out some of these old Milligan Logo designs courtesy of the Milligan Archives! Did you know that Milligan’s official colors use to be Green and White before the current colors of Black and orange?

Contest Guidelines:

Current Students may submit up to 2 final designs for this contest. SGA and Milligan PR will review all submitted designs before presenting four final designs for the student body to vote on in March. The winning shirt will then be available on campus for purchase.

Avoid incorporating Current official Milligan logos or wordmarks into your design.

There are several rules when it comes to using our current logos and wordmarks, so to avoid hampering creativity, we would advise you to steer clear of those assets. Besides, this contest is an opportunity to break new creative ground and come up with something unique.

Wordmarks and logos do not apply to our name and mascot.

The Milligan wordmark only pertains to the specific fonts we use to spell out Milligan University, which can be found in our style guide (https://www.milligan.edu/publications/Brand-Guide/). Feel free to use the words themselves – Milligan University, Buffs, and Buffaloes are all fair game. Additionally, feel free to incorporate images of buffaloes in your work as long as the Brutus logo used by athletics is not incorporated into the design.

Make sure the message conveyed by your design is appropriate.

Again, we are excited about this opportunity for our students to show their creativity, but the images and overall message of the design must align with the mission and values of our university. We ask that you please keep your design limited to two colors for printing and cost logistics.

The Milligan marketing department is available to help during the design process.

Feel free to reach out at any point during the design process with any questions you may have about your entry. We are here to help you in any way we can.

The final, and most important guideline…

Have fun! We can’t wait to see what you come up with. Reach out to Milligan PR and marketing director Dave Ongie (drongie@milligan.edu) or Milligan graphic designer Stephanie Schmitz (ssschmitz@milligan.edu) with any questions.
