ETS Proficiency Profile Standard Exam – August 21, 2023

I hope you are having a great summer so far!  I wanted to reach out to make sure you know about and make plans to return to campus in time to take the ETS Proficiency Profile standardized exam on Monday, August 21; 9:00 a.m. -11:30 in Gregory Auditorium. The ETS Proficiency Exam is required for all students who started at Milligan in fall 2021. Please plan to arrive at 8:45 a.m. to sign in. You will need to bring a pen, #2 pencils, and a basic function calculator.

Please note that you are required to take this exam. If you have an unavoidable conflict with the date listed above, you must contact me immediately to be scheduled for the one and only make-up test date (Friday, August 25, 5:00 p.m.-7:30 p.m., Derthick 202).  If you do not take the exam on August 25 or contact me to schedule the make-up testing session, you may be withdrawn from your fall classes.

Additional information about the exam:

The ETS Proficiency Profile (two one-hour multiple-choice sections) assesses skills and knowledge in writing, critical thinking, mathematics, humanities, social sciences, and natural sciences. Although you will not need to study or prepare for these exams, please be prepared to give your best effort. If your individual scores fall below minimum proficiency standards in a particular area, this information will be forwarded to the Director of Student Success who may recommend remedial tutoring to help ensure your future academic success. Milligan also uses the results of these exams to evaluate institutional effectiveness. If you have testing accommodations and would like to use them for this exam, please notify Chase McGlamery ( as soon as possible.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me by phone (423-461-8415) or email, and I will be happy to assist you.
