On Tuesday Sep 26, Dr. Norman Wirzba, professor of theology and ecology at Duke University Divinity School, will speak in Convocation (11:00 am/Seeger Chapel) and an Honors Program Colloquium at 5:30 pm in Hyder Auditorium (2 SFP available).
The author of such books as Way of Love, The Paradise of God, and Living the Sabbath, Wirzba is a pioneering scholar whose interests lie at the intersections of theology, philosophy, ecology, and agrarian and environmental studies. Through his writing and teaching, Wirzba aims to enable urban and rural church communities to be more faithful and responsible members of creation.
Wirzba’s morning talk will focus on Sabbath as the fulfillment of life in God’s world, while the evening presentation, ‘Food and Faith’, examines ways in which eating and food production can be re-imagined in witness to the kingdom of God. Both events are free and open to the public.
Dr. Wirzba’s visit is sponsored by both the Milligan Honors Program and the Office of Undergraduate Research.
