Campus Communication Policy

Milligan Today ( is your one-stop shop for everything going on at Milligan. Includes breaking news, food menus, lost & found, email, self-service, and much more. Find quick links and post categories in the right-hand sidebar.

The campus calendar ( lists every campus event, including athletics. Look for the “subscribe” button on the bottom right of the calendar page to get events added to your phone!

You may submit your event or announcement to the many departments across campus who have access to post to Milligan Today and the calendar (see below).

 Campus emails

In an effort to reduce campus email, messages will come from Student Development, Campus ministry, Academics (course promos, lectures, etc.), or Career Services. However, if you wish to contact campus, but your message does not fall into these categories, you may send to the appropriate email list, depending on your intended audience:

To email faculty and staff, send to. You may also request the vice president of your area to send your email to campus. Searching “all” in your Global Mail List will bring up all the addresses.

The PR Office will approve one email to campus per event.

Some departments and organizations have their own social media pages. Consult with the PR office before creating one.

Promoting to the public

Start with Milligan’s PR Office ( or 461.8764).

All news releases, announcements to the community, posters, media interviews, etc., must be approved and coordinated by the PR office. The PR office has an extensive list of media contacts, and we frequently email news releases promoting Milligan’s events, people, and accomplishments to regional media outlets. We are happy to help you develop and execute a promotional plan for your announcement or event. Please start no later than three weeks prior to the event.

As a reminder, if you are contacted by the media, please contact the PR office first before responding.

We want your story ideas! We’re always looking for features to release to the media or use in the magazine, as well as ideas for student profiles and social media posts.

Lost & Found

Milligan’s official Lost and Found is located in the Registrar’s office (Sue Skidmore) in Derthick Hall. Contact to have your lost item posted on the Lost & Found page.

Emergency alerts

Emergency alerts about crisis situations, including weather-related changes, will be sent as text messages and emails. All Milligan students, faculty, and staff can register for RAVE emergency alerts here.
