Orchestra: In Remembrance and Celebration

The Milligan College Orchestra, directed by Dr. Kellie Brown, will conclude its season on Saturday, April 22, in Seeger Memorial Chapel Mary B. Martin Auditorium at 7:30 p.m. with a spring concert presenting works of remembrance and celebration. Music is one of the most powerful media for honoring and memorializing and will be represented by pieces such as “Remembrance” by Sarah Gibson in response to 9/11. Music also is the ideal vehicle for celebration with pieces such as “Bacchanale” by Saint-Saens, Handel’s “Entrance of the Queen of Sheba,” and “Jubilant Overture” by Josh Reznicow. The highlight of the concert will be the Milligan Concert Choir joined by high school choirs from David Crockett and University School performing Vivaldi’s “Gloria.”
