Johnson City Symphony presents 48th season- “Heroes & Legends”

Join the Symphony on September 11, 2016, to celebrate the American spirit as the
Symphony opens their 48th concert season. The annual, free, open-air concert will be
held at Winged Deer Park with music beginning at 6 p.m.

Tickets are now on sale for the 2016-2017 “Heroes & Legends” concert season..
Featured repertoire is inspired by heroic figures, fabled tales, or even mythical subjects.
The symphonic journey will include masterworks for orchestra that are, themselves,
legendary for serene beauty, dynamic excitement, and genius insight. The guest artists
will showcase Dr. Alan Stevens, Dr. Matthew Potterton, the Academy of Strings and Dr.
Wesley Baldwin, some of the finest musicians from the Tri-Cities. Internationally-renowned
violinist Bella Hristova will join the Symphony in February for her second appearance on
the Milligan College stage.

From the Romantically German Opening Night on October 15 featuring Principal Clarinet,
Dr. Victor Chavez, to the All-American concert, featuring Cliff Jackson-former pianist for
Kathleen Battle-on March 4, 2017, you won’t want to miss a moment of this truly epic
season. May 20th will finish the season with foot tapping Celtic rhythms by Mithril for
their third appearance with the Symphony. All concerts, with the exception of the
September park concert, will be held in the Mary B. Martin Auditorium in Seeger Chapel
on the Milligan College campus.
