Milligan College, Tenn. (Sept. 9, 2013) — Milligan College senior Kylie Whaley (Maryville, Tenn.) has been named the Appalachian Athletic Conference’s Hitter of the Week for volleyball. The honor was announced by the league office on Monday afternoon.
“Kylie had a great weekend in Georgia as well as an awesome start to her senior season,” Head Coach Doneva Bays said. “She has worked extremely hard in the off-season, and it is definitely paying off for her. I am so proud of her.”
Whaley had a solid weekend to help the Buffaloes go 4-1 on the weekend as she was named to the Battle of the Springs All-Tournament team. The senior recorded 67 kills averaging 4.8 kills per set. She hit .466 for the week, and had six solo and six block assists.
On the season, Whaley is averaging 3.72 kills per set for a season total of 145 kills. She has eight solo blocks and 14 block assists.
The Buffaloes are currently 4-8 overall.
Whaley and company return to action on Friday, Sept. 13, as they host Appalachian Athletic Conference foe Reinhardt University inside Steve Lacy Fieldhouse. Match time is set for 6:30 p.m.
