Salem, Ore. (May 17, 2013) — The Milligan College men’s golf team recorded a 14th place finish as play concluded on Friday at the 2013 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore.
Matthias Wild (Berlin, Germany) paced the way for Milligan in the event. Wild recorded a final round score of 78 to finish the four-day event with a total of 300 to place in a tie for 30th. Kody Fawcett (Manitoba, Canada) joined Wild inside the top 50 as he finished in 49th. Fawcett shot a 2-over-par 74 to finish the tournament with a score of 304.
Freshman Mitchell Sutton (Locust Grove, Ga.) carded an 80 on Friday to finish the tournament in 59th. Sutton finished the event with a score of 308. Hunter O’Neal (Bluefield, Va.) fired an 84 in the final round, and finished the tournament with a score of 311 to finish in a tie for 68th.
Whit Brown (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) shot a 79 to close out the event. The senior ended the tournament in a tie for 71st with a four-day total of 312.
As a team, Milligan finished the final round with a team score of 311. The Buffaloes ended the tournament with a score of 1213. Oklahoma City captured their second-straight national championship title with a score of 1148.
Milligan concludes the 2012-13 season after claiming the regular season Appalachian Athletic Conference title and the NAIA Direct Qualifier.
