Salem, Ore. (May 16, 2013) — The Milligan College men’s golf team was recorded the lowest score in a rainy morning session on Thursday to advance to the final round of the 2013 Men’s Golf National Championships at Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore.
Hunter O’Neal (Bluefield, Va.) led the way for Milligan as he went 1-under-par on the back nine to shoot a 71. The round moves O’Neal into a tie for 53rd place with a tournament total of 227. Whit Brown (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) recorded four birdies to finish the round with a score of 73, and the senior moved into 88th place with a tournament total of 233.
Mitchell Sutton (Locust Grove, Ga.) opened the day with an eagle on No. 1 and finished the round with a 2-over-par 74 to improve to a tie for 58th with a three-day total of 228. Matthias Wild (Berlin, Germany) fired a 75 in the round. Wild will sit in 30th place entering the final day with a tournament total of 222.
Kody Fawcett (Manitoba, Canada) rounded out Buffaloes with a 6-over-par 78. Fawcett moved into 68th place with a three-round total of 230.
As a team, the Buffaloes finished the round with a score of 293. Milligan will enter the final day in 14th place. Only the top 17 teams will play on the final day.
