Salem, Ore. (May 15, 2012) — Matthias Wild (Berlin, Germany) moved into the top 20 on the individual leader board as he led the way for the Milligan men’s golf team in second round action of the 2013 NAIA Men’s Golf National Championships at the Creekside Golf Club in Salem, Ore.
Wild continued the momentum from his strong opening round as he recorded three birdies on the final five holes to shoot a 1-over-par 73. The round moved Wild to a tie for 18th with a two-day total of 147.
Kody Fawcett (Manitoba, Canada) played even for the first 11 holes before birding No. 12, and finished the round with a 3-over par 74. Fawcett moved to a tie for 53rd with a two-round total of 152.
Mitchell Sutton (Locust Grove, Ga.) shot an even par on the back nine to finish the second round 4-over-par with a score of 76. The freshman moves to 10-over-par for the tournament to move into a tie 65th.
Hunter O’Neal (Bluefield, Va.) battled back from a rough start with two birdies and six straight pars on the back nine holes to finish the round 6-over-par 78. O’Neil moves to 12-over-par for the tournament to move into a tie for 90th with a total score of 156.
Whit Brown (Murfreesboro, Tenn.) carded four birdies and five pars in the second round to fire an 8-over-par 80. For the tournament, Brown moves to 16-over-par with a two-day total of 160 to move to 116th place.
As a team, Milligan jumped up into a tie for 15th place with a two-day total of 609. The Buffaloes are just seven strokes from breaking into the top 10.
The Buffaloes return to action on Thursday, May 16, for the third and final round. Action starts at 7:30 a.m. (PDT).
