IHN of Greater Johnson City on NBC’s Rock Center TONIGHT (11/29)

IHN Family To Be Featured On NBC’s Rock Center With Brian Williams Thursday November 29th @ 10pm EST

Johnson City—November 28, Interfaith Hospitality Network of Greater Johnson City (IHNJC), a ministry that serves homeless families with children, will have a guest family in our program featured on a national broadcast of NBC’s Rock Center with Brian Williams tomorrow night, Thursday November 29th at 10pm EST. The story focuses on IHN guests Patrick and Cindy Kennard and their daughters.

The Kennard family is one of the 25 to 35 homeless families with children that IHNJC serves each year in the Johnson City area. Unfortunately there are many other homeless families who are not receiving assistance both in east Tennessee and around the country. Families are the fastest growing segment of the homeless population (41 % nationally).

IHNJC shelters, feeds, and provides support to homeless families with children in a six-county area. These families benefit from the work of the ministry, its 1200 volunteers and the 40 area faith congregations that support its efforts. IHNJC is a program that is “Keeping Families Together.” The social service and business communities are equally involved in the work of IHNJC.

Ann Curry of NBC News and NBC camera crews came to Johnson City in late October to film and interview the Kennards experience in the IHN program.
