KINGSPORT AQUATIC CENTER SEEKING LIFEGUARDS
Are you looking for a great summer job or even an exciting career as a professional lifeguard? The Kingsport Aquatic Center, the region’s newest, most comprehensive public aquatic and recreation facility, is seeking to hire 75 certified lifeguards.
“With both indoor and outdoor pools, including the region’s only indoor Olympic-size pool, we will need plenty of people to help ensure the safety of our guests,” said Kari Matheney, the center’s director. “We are scheduled to open in mid-May and want to get our roster filled as quickly as possible.”
All lifeguards hired must be a minimum of 15 years of age with current American Red Cross certification in lifeguard training, CPR/AED, and first aid. Duties include manning the lifeguard station and monitoring pool and pool deck activities; enforcing pool rules and regulations; providing emergency assistance when necessary; and general pool cleaning and maintenance. Work schedule will include early mornings, nights, weekends and on-call for special event duties.
Training opportunities are available at the center including American Red Cross lifeguard training.
The new aquatic center features indoor facilities including an eight-lane, 50-meter pool; a four-lane, 25-meter, zero-entry pool specially designed for instruction and therapy; and a leisure pool with water slide. Also inside are one-meter and three-meter diving platforms.
The center’s outdoor water park, open Memorial Day through Labor Day, features a large pool with a water playground and lily pad crossing, two water slides and a 900-foot lazy river.
Lifeguards will also be scheduled to monitor swim meets, birthday parties, and other private events at both the indoor and outdoor pools.
